Makalu trek is a suitable trek for those wanting to explore the isolated remote parts of eastern Nepal. It is designated in Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area which houses 16 mountains including Mt. Makalu (8463m)- fifth highest mountain in the world. This protected region is renowned for its natural beauty and rich biodiversity(spans five major ecological zones) along with distinctive culture that has been preserved due to remoteness the region. The trail rises from 850meters to 5000 meters providing strking contrasts with high waterfalls, raggy rocks rising from lush green forests, and colorful flowers at the lower levels to polished granite cliffs capped by hanging glaciers, overflowing with waterfalls beneath white snow peaks at the upper reaches.
First we reach Tumlingtar via flight from Kathmandu and head to Chichila where our real trek begins. With a views of mountains at a distance, we go through forests, cornfield, paddy field across Num, Sedua, Sherpa village of Tashi Gaon to Kauma where we rest for a day to acclimatize. Tashi Gaon is sruuounded by breathkating Himalaya panorama. As we go through steep paths the forests become sparse with rugged terrain and then through less steeply forests of firs and rhododendrons we reach Mumbuk camp. From Arun valley trail passes high passes such as Shipton La &Keke La into the upper Barun valley. We descend to Neha Kharka and again ascend to Makalu Base Camp via Sherson. The trail is flat with icy glaciers. From Base Camp we can have magnificent south face of Makalu and complete panorama of Everest and Lhotse. We can explore lakes, glaciers. We retrace back to Barun Valley, Mumbuk, Tashi Gaon, Bumling, Tumlingtar and fly back to Kathmandu.
Makalu trek takes us to very remote and unfrequented areas of Nepal. This region preserves some of the last pristine mountain ecosystems and is undisturbed habitat to many rare species of animals and plants. This trek is ideal for those who want solace and tranquility in undisturbed nature. The best seasons are Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November).

Day 03: Flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar (860 m).Trek to Khadbari(1,040m) for 4 hours. Camp
Day 04: Trek Khadbari to Chichila (1,830 m) (5/6 hrs). Camp
Day 05: Trek Chichila to Num (1,490 m) (5 hrs). Camp
Day 06: Trek Num to Sedua (1,460 m) (5/6 hrs). Camp
