Frequently Asked Question

Yes, you can extend your tourist visa to Nepal. To do so, visit the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or the Immigration Office in Pokhara. You can extend your tourist visa for up to 150 days within a year.

The process includes completing the online application, gathering required documents, visiting the immigration office, paying fees, submitting documentation, and obtaining the extension.

To obtain the Nepali tourist visa, you will need the following documents:

  • A valid passport with at least two blank pages and six months of validity from the date you enter Nepal.
  • Passport-size photos.
  • Visa fees.

The Tibet Travel Permit, also known as Tibet Group Visa (TGV) or Invitation Letter, is a mandatory travel permit that foreigners must obtain to enter Tibet. It is not a visa but more like a separate permit that the Tibet Tourism Bureau issues.

To obtain the Tibet Travel Permit, you must travel with an authorized Tibet tour operator in your country or with us. Travelers cannot get this permit on their own.

Foreigners are not allowed to travel to Tibet independently. You must join an organized tour with an authorized travel agency like us. We, Leaf Holidays Treks & Expedition, organize both private and group tours in Tibet. Please contact us for more information.

We have explained the duration required to obtain the Tibet Travel Permit below:

  • Phase I: After confirming the trip, we will require a scanned copy of your passport to apply for a Tibet Travel Permit and visa on your behalf. The Tibet Tourism Bureau will process the application in two weeks.
  • Phase II: It takes three days to process an urgent visa request and four days to process a normal visa request. So, you have to arrive in Kathmandu at least 3 or 4 days in advance to hand over your passport and pay the Chinese visa application and visa service fee. Our team will help you. It takes three full days to process at the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.
  • Phase III: Once the permit and visa are issued, our team will deliver them to you. Make sure to carry the Chinese visa, photocopies of the Tibet Travel Permit, and the application form.

*Please note that the Tibet Travel Permit is also known as a Tibet Group Visa (TGV).

In the major tourist cities and areas, many locals speak and understand English. During the tour, you will be accompanied by one of our English-speaking Tibetan guides, who will help you interact with the locals.
