Trip Overview

Holy Mt. Kailash Overland Tour
12 Nights/13 Days – Kerung – to – Kerung

In Tibetan jargon, Mt. Kailash is known to be ‘Khang Rimpoche’ which means ‘Precious Jewel of Snow’. Mt. Kailash, at (6,714m/22,028ft) is a magnificent mountain of beauty and grace, with four great cardinal faces – the northern face is believed to be gold, the western face – ruby, the southern face -sapphire and the eastern face – crystal. This mountain is the centre piece of 4 religions and is held deeply sacred to millions; the mountain is circled by thousands of pilgrims every year but no one has ever attempted to climb this mountain due to mythical religious beliefs…

This overland holy tour takes us to the spiritual ‘Mecca’ of Hindu-Buddhist-Jain and the Bon religions. Hindus believe that Mount Kailash is the holy abode of ‘lord Shiva’; the Jains calls it the mountain of ‘Astapada’ and believe it to be the place of Tishaba. Likewise, Bon followers call it the mountain of ‘Tishe’ and believe it to be the seat of Sipaimen – the Sky Goddess.

Mt. Kailash Mansarovar overland Tour can be conducted via different routes of Nepal, Tibet and India. The most convenient route to Mt. Kailash is from the Kodari border but sadly, it was closed after the overwhelming earthquake in 2015. The new Kailash tour via the Kerung border is now the new optional route to reach the sacred mountain but will only be opened to visitors in 2018. Kerung at (2900m) is a pretty little town with lovely climates throughout the year and is also known as the valley of Happiness. This is an exclusive town in Tibet where plenty of green vegetables are grown! Our Kailash Mansarovar tour via Kerung is the most accessible travelling route that takes only about 2 weeks to complete the tour. Leaf Holidays Kailash Mansarovar tour package offers you a brief exploration of the cultural, natural and religious landmarks of Tibet. The sacred journey to Mt. Kailash is an enlivening travelling experience into the remote and far flung parts of this arid windswept country. The Kailash yatra package cost includes all the transportation, accommodation, guides, porters and meals expenses during the tour. An optional service is also on offer by a helicopter package for 2018 which can be operated for those with physical disadvantages or aged pilgrims, but this will be quite expensive.
